Yoplait Greek Yogurt #TasteOff

Today's #TasteOff was sponsored by Yoplait, but the winner was my honest choice.

We took the Yoplait Greek Taste Off challenge, have you?

If you would like to take the challenge visit this link: Greek TasteOff Tumblr;  to snag a coupon!

Greek yogurt is part of our daily diet. It is a great source of protein to help keep your waistline trim. Most of the time, I prefer plain or vanilla (I know, not too exciting!). My husband and our youngest are the only other yogurt lovers in the house, and they enjoy yogurt with fruit in it.  I like it sometimes, but generally stick to my old stand-by.

We buy all brands, Chobani, Fage, Activia, but we had not tried Yoplait's Greek. Really, there are getting to be more and more Greek choices, all the time.  I have tried some that I will definitely not purchase again.

When I was contacted by Yoplait to participate in the Yoplait Taste-Off, I was thrilled! Like I said, we love yogurt.  I use it in smoothies, fruit salads, and I use plain in all sorts of recipes. So we headed off to the store to grab our yogurt to get tasting.

I set up the taste test and labeled the bowls of yogurt, to keep them straight! They both looked pretty yummy, but one of them was a clear stand out.

This challenge is Yoplait vs. Chobani and, honestly, I love Chobani Greek yogurt, so I was a little skeptical. (I really love their Coconut yogurt! Yum!)

My youngest was my taster because I knew that he would be completely honest with me.

Who was the standout winner?

I was, truly, so surprised! The Yoplait Greek Blueberry is already blended and was creamy with a smooth taste, no bitterness like some Greek yogurt.  The Chobani is fruit on the bottom, so you have to stir quite a bit to get it blended, and it was still not nearly as smooth as I would like.  And, Chobani, even though it's been one of my favorites in the past, really does have the "bite" that many Greek yogurts have.

I was absolutely convinced. Yoplait Greek Yogurt has a new home in my refrigerator!

Yoplait Greek Yogurt has no artificial sweeteners or flavors, and all colors are natural with real bits of fruit in every cup. Yoplait Greek is available nationally, and you can use the store locator right on their website to find your nearest retailer.

And, oh, the flavors! There are some really good ones, that I still want to try.  Blueberry is always in our fridge, but I really want to try the Coconut and the Strawberry Raspberry. Those just sound tasty, don't they? There more flavors, too, like Cherry, Pineapple, my trusty Vanilla, Tangerine, Strawberry, and Raspberry. Yum! I'm craving them now.

#GameTimeGoodies from WalMart and Nestle

What's your favorite sport? I enjoy football, but I am not a total nut about it.  My husband and boys, on the other hand, are fanatics.  Football is serious business people.  Since football is serious business, game time food is serious business.  You have to have sustained energy to watch game after game.

This weekend the games are BIG. We will find out who goes to the BIG GAME, ya know? So, we can't be stuck in the kitchen preparing a difficult meal.  We need quick, easy, and tasty.

That's where DiGiorno comes in.

I shop at WalMart all the time.  It's where I do my weekly grocery shopping, so when they have a good deal on any items that I purchase regularly, I snatch them up.  And, they have a great deal on DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizzas. You can get two pizzas for $9.00.  That's right, I said $9.00! They are $4.50 each, right now! Just in time for the big football gathering at your house. Hurry and stock up!

#gametimegoodies #shop #cbias #digiorno #walmart

My little guy isn't always that keen on any kind of shopping, but it's a different story when he gets to pick out something that HE likes. The pizzas are right within his reach and he can choose the ones he likes easily. He and I are pepperoni people, and the rest of the family enjoys Supreme.  So, we were nice to them and got one of each. At $4.50 each we can afford to be nice.

#gametimegoodies #shop #cbias #digiorno #walmart

We had a just a few other items to pick up, as well.  We all like to dip our pizza, and I am copycatting a dipping sauce from one of our favorite restaurants, so I had to grab some ingredients.

#gametimegoodies #shop #cbias #digiorno #walmart

This Dill Ranch Pizza Dipping Sauce is the perfect pairing with your DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizzas.  It is tangy and salty and oh so dill-icious! (See what I did there? Cute, huh?) I found this recipe on Food.com and I was so exited!

{For readers in my area, this is really close to the Dill dressing at Pizza King on Hiway 80.  Believe me, I've been trying for a while!}

After you mix up your dip, cover it and let the flavors blend in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.  Then prepare your taste buds for a flavor explosion!

The saltiness of the cheese and the spiciness of the pepperoni go so well with the tangy taste of the dill. My husband loves it with the Supreme Pizza, too.  We added some sparkling tropical punch from our soda maker, and had the perfect (and easy) meal for watching the big game!

What are you favorite toppings for your pizza? I bet you could dress up a DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizza to beat any delivery. But, really, why bother? The Supreme is already loaded with tasty toppings!

#gametimegoodies #shop #cbias #digiorno #walmart

Hurry and stock up while this awesome rollback from WalMart lasts!

Which team will  you be cheering on this weekend while you enjoy your Digiorno?

Printable Daily Planner Freebie

I wanted a planner, or daily organizer, that I could print out and keep right in front of me.  Of course, I still use my smart phone to create lists and reminders, but sometimes I really want something that is helpful, not only to me, but to the whole family.

So, I created this simple Printable Daily Planner:

Free Daily Planner Printable from Trip Worth Taking
Planner Preview

It's super simple and easy to use.  There is an area for any running around town that I need to do, important tasks that can't wait, an area for the days menu, and a little extra area for any miscellaneous reminders.  I can print off several to have for the whole week and date them ahead of time.

I added Philippians 4:8 to keep my mind focused, as well.

I wanted to share it with you all for free! It prints out on standard 8.5x11 paper and you can punch holes in it to add to a binder, if you like.

Stay tuned to get all the free planner pages that are to come!

Thanks for visiting, and a Pin or a Tweet would be greatly appreciated!

Healthier Me-Migraine Management

I'm writing this post as a migraine sufferer. I am not a doctor, nor an expert of any kind on headaches or migraines.  I simply want to share my experiences and what I am doing to manage my pain. Always consult with your doctor to determine what is best for you.

At least, I hope to be healthier.  Not that I have been an unhealthy person, at all! I just am making some changes to be healthi-er.

You've heard all about my autoimmune disorder, and I can't really change anything on that issue.  Just keep taking my meds and being as health conscious as possible.  My main focus, at this point, is migraines.

Whew.  That's a big one for me.  I have had migraines since I was a child.  7 years old to be exact.

I have been on countless prescribed medications, seen specialists, had MRI's, and been to the ER when it has been really bad.  Sometimes it has been a little scary.

There have actually been times, when I was afraid to go to sleep because I thought I might not wake up.

Scary.

Even though some of the medications I have been on have lessened the severity and frequency of the migraine attacks, the side effects were no fun, and I felt that I had a diminished quality of life, in general. Some of the side effects were a racing heart, sleeplessness, fatigue, and a somewhat flat affect.  For example, there were times that I knew I should be feeling really sad about something, and I just didn't. Or, even really happy or excited, and it wasn't happening.

I wanted emotions back.

They are good for you.  They are LIFE.

So, changes were in the tea leaves, so to speak.

I have read a ton on migraines over the years, but I really focused on my research with a mind toward diminishing the effects of my triggers (too bad I can't control the weather!).  Did you know that people who suffer from migraines are more sensitive to dehydration than the average bear? Sorta makes sense, doesn't it? So, it's really important to stay well hydrated at all times.

Often, I wake up with a migraine, after a good night's sleep.  I am now drinking an Advocare product called ReHydrate, to replenish electrolytes, and give a me a boost of Vitamin C and B-6, first thing in the morning.  I drink another one later in the day as I feel the need. The Fruit Punch flavor is my favorite.  Along with that, I take 2 caplet called 02 Gold that provides whey protein peptides in a portable form, as well as ingredients to help the body combat the effects of stress.

Later in the day, I have a drink called Oasis, that provides a really good boost of Vitamin B2, B6, and B12.

If I have to use any of my triptan medication (for when a migraine kicks in), I'll have another ReHydrate with it. That, for me, seems to cut down on the side effects of the triptan.  I get some body aches and start to feel really tired from the medication.

There are so many things that can be triggers for migraine sufferers; weather, too little sleep, too much sleep, dehydration, nutrition, alcohol, chocolate, cheese, allergies, low light, bright light, flickering light (sun coming through the trees as you are driving is a killer!)... in short...life.

I use lamps in my office at work, I try to stick to a pretty regular sleep schedule, but I love food. When I cook something, I want to eat it, but that may be coming to an end.  I am planning to start really regimenting my nutrition and boosting my protein intake. Studies are showing that if you have a higher protein intake, you may reduce the frequency of your migraines.

I feel that I have to make these changes for me and my family.  I am tired of spending my evenings in bed, while the family is together in another room. I am tired of missing out on fun times with friends because of being in too much pain.

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Do you suffer from migraines? When did yours start and what are your triggers?

New Year-New Focus

I can't believe it's already 2014.  Where did the holidays go?

You may have noticed that there haven't been any posts in a couple of weeks. Did you? Well, I took a technology break for the weeks of Christmas and New Year's. I did read some books on my Kindle, but I don't really count that.  I was just reading, after all. I think I plowed through 3 books. It was awesomesauce.

We took in a couple of movies with the little guy, too.  Walking with Dinosaurs and The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, both of them were so good.  I highly recommend them.

And, of course, there were all of the holiday festivities. Visiting family and opening huge mounds of gifts.

Everyone was happy with their swag that they got. I especially love watching the boys faces as they open their gifts.

I really raked in the goodies, as well.  I got some things for the house, and I'll show those things off later on. But, the absolute best gift I received was a brand new dining room table built just for me by my amazing husband.

Pine Dining Table with Weathered Grey Stain
Pine Dining Table with Weathered Gray Stain

I can't even tell you how much I love it.  Well, maybe I can.  I love it. A lot. Right now there are the same 6 chairs around the table, but this weekend there will be 8.  I have two more of the same chairs that have been waiting patiently in the garage until they were called up.  I felt so sorry for them. Just hanging out in the cold garage. Poor things.

Here is the dining room before:
{Note that these pics are unedited}

These were right after we completed the kitchen renovation.  In the top pic, we didn't even have 6 chairs finished, yet. Notice in the bottom two photos that the table legs are right in front of the chair? Yea. That made for a comfy seat for a meal. NOT.

I did move the green bench that was in front of the window in the dining room.  We needed just a tad more room for comfort.

I will be updating the photos on the Our Home page, soon, so stay tuned.

Also, during the month of December and the Christmas break, I started making some "lifestyle" changes for my health.  I am not an unhealthy person, but some changes did need to be made.  I have suffered with migraines all of my life, and I have an autoimmune liver condition. I have been on a lot of medication for many years, and I felt the need to change that.  Is it scary? Absolutely!

I was able to transition off of one of my medications and I am replacing it with supplements, diet changes, better habits.  I have added Advocare products to my daily regimen, to keep me hydrated, increase intake of certain vitamins and minerals, and promote all around well being.

I hope you'll wish me luck for success! I'll be sharing about my my migraine regimen very soon.  I know that there are many people who suffer and feel so misunderstood.

Tomorrow is the newest installment of the Tips And Tricks Linky Party and we are hoping that you will stop by and share your favorite posts from 2013!
