Bedroom Design Dilemmas

Our master bedroom is in need of updating. Desperately.

Do you ever get so sick of a room or space that it just becomes a place to pile things?

This is what my bedroom has become.

I don't know why I have such a hard time finding the right "look" for that room. I love my other spaces, but I can never seem to get this one "right".

Here is a  glimpse and please don't judge!

My husband's grandfather owned a grocery store many years ago and I was going for a vintage look here. Yeah. It didn't work out.

Cabinets made for me by my dad

Do you have any piece of furniture in your home that is never just quite right, but you can't part with it?

That is how I feel about these cabinets.  They never seem to work the way we need or want them to, but since my dad made them for me, I will not part with them. I do, however, have an idea or two that I really hope will work out.

We recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary (yes, I know, thank you, thank you....) and our gift to each other will be to completely make over this room. It will take time and thought and energy, but I know it will be worth it.  I'm tired of the dumping ground room.

I want a relaxing space that I can really enjoy.

So, for your viewing pleasure, here are a few of our inspiration photos!

The image above isn't our style, but take note of the faux wall. There is something behind it. Hmmm....

Barn style doors may be going the way of the dodo bird, but I love them and want one to separate our bedroom from the bath. Eek! Love. it.

The ideas are all a-whirl in my head and I can't wait to get started.  I just hope that it will actually translate into a real life room.

I'll keep you posted along the way once we get started!

Tell me about a room you hate and feel needs more personality. Please share!

Catching Up

Hi, everyone!
It seems as if I have been away from the blog for weeks, but it really has only been a little over one week.  A lot has happened, though.

We went to visit my mother for the 4th of July and had a great time.  We just relaxed and did nothing. It was awesome.

Then, we stopped to visit my in-laws on our way home and found that my father-in-law was no longer responsive.  (If you have read THIS POST, you will know that he has been fighting a battle with lung cancer.) I haven't talked a lot about it, but, it progressed quickly. And, in March treatment was discontinued.

My sweet father-in-law lost his battle with cancer exactly one year and one day after learning his diagnosis on July 6th. We held his funeral on July 9th, and my husband and his brother spoke in lieu of the pastor.  It was a beautiful tribute to their father.

Everyone is doing pretty well, even our boys. It was expected and we were all well prepared.

We will truly miss him.

On July 11th we took our boys and got outta Dodge for a couple of days.

Just a quick trip to Dallas but, it was a lot of fun.

We went to eat at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant. O.M.G. Delish, and fun!

These guys are too cool for a photo.

The next day we visited Allen Premium Outlets, Cabela's, and Home Goods. It was my first trip to Home Goods! Eeek! Love!

I got these placemats.

They are the absolute perfect colors for the dining room.

After a little shopping we went to Top Golf and the boys blasted a few golf balls.

It was a good break and much needed.

I'm glad I had a chance to pop in and catch up!
