Tips for Healthy and Safe Travel

This is the week that I am flying off to Washington DC for a few days.  I'll be attending a huge conference for work.  I plan to get a lot of really good information and eat some good food (while still eating healthy for the DietBet ;)).

It's been a long time since I have flown. I'm talking 5 years here.

When we go on a family vacay, it's a road trip.

Here's another goody.

I have never been on a plane with my husband.
I really hope that happens one day because that will mean we are going on a fabulous trip for just the two of us!

I was looking up info on suitcase dimensions, safe travel; you know, paranoid stuff...
("Oh my goodness! I haven't been on a plan in so long that I probably won't know what to do!")
I probably won't, but, I will have a few travelling buddies from work, and they are surely more well traveled than I am.

My Favorite Crafting Tool, from Me!

Woohoo! What a great week! Everyone had some great tips and ideas for tools to add to our crafting arsenals, didn't they?

I wanted to throw my two cents in about my favorite crafting tool, as well.

These are things that I use all of the time.

Just Us Four: My Favorite Crafting Tool

Today is the final installment of this blog series and Shannah from Just Us Four is sharing a great idea with us. It is certainly something that I will start using.  Funny thing is, I just saw these at Michael's and stopped to look at them, but, didn't get one.  I guess I'll be going back!

Shannah has some awesome tutorials that she shares and recently scored an amazing Chippendale chair off of Craigslist and her revamp is seriously drool worthy.

Hi! I'm Shannah from Just Us Four! I am thrilled to be a part of Amy's series on DIY/Crafting Tools. Mine is definitely a little unconventional. Sure...I use a glue gun, paint brush and mod podge a TON! But, the thing that works the hardest for me is

Stephanie hosts fun linky parties that tons of awesome crafters visit, so head over and get inspired!

Hey Trip Worth Taking readers! I'm Stephanie and I blog over at Simply Dream & Create. I was pretty excited when Amy asked me to be a guest blogger for her Craft Tool series. I think it is an awesome series idea that many will benefit from.

Dream A Little Bigger: My Favorite Craft Tool a Blog Series

Today, I want to introduce a real cutie! Allison blogs over at Dream A Little Bigger and she certainly doesn't limit herself to one area of crafting. She has a rockin' collection of shoes that she has remade and embellished. You should go over and check out all of her awesome DIY's.

Her favorite tool is very unexpected and awesome! Enjoy!

When Amy asked me what my most used or most important crafting tool was I instantly thought of my hot glue gun. While it is the tool I used the most through one genre to the next of crafting, it isn't the most important. If something happened to that little pink thing today, I'd replace it tomorrow and that would be the end of that. No big deal. My Buck knife, on the other hand would be a completely different story.

My Daily Survival Kit: Apps and Digital Devices

There are certain things that probably every woman/mom has in her daily survival kit.

Lip balm/lipstick
tissues
wallet
mirror
smartphone
notepad
pen

There are probably a million variations on these daily survival kits.

As our lives become more digital, our survival kits do the same. So, I thought I would share some of the tools that I use on a daily basis.

This is not a sponsored post. I'm just sharing things that I enjoy and use on a daily basis.

Kid Art: 5 Ways to Display It

This is something that I have definitely struggled with, and I know that I can't be the only one. I never know how much to have displayed, where to display it, or how.

As I was browsing Pinterest one day I came across one image that showed a really cool idea for displaying kids work, and it got me to searching for more.

So, now, I give you...da da da daaaaa

Weekend Wrap Up and The DietBet

I hope you all had a great weekend. We had such a wonderful time.
My mom came to visit for the weekend and we spent a lot of time together.
We didn't do anything really special, just being with each other.

We did do a little shopping.
I got the greatest water bottle.  I know it's a little silly to be so happy over a water bottle, but I am!
Did you know, you can buy spring water in glass bottles and it is way cheaper than buying cool bottles that are empty? Crazy, but true. Here is the bottle I am so happy about:
Voss Bottle

Seriously love it. Weird, I know.

We discovered a nest under the patio eave on the top of a post.  It already has little baby birds in it!

Go With The Flow

This is a post that appeared on Chic On A Shoestring. I hope you enjoy!

Hello All!

My name is Amy, from the blog Life Is A Trip Worth Taking. I am so excited to be here and guest posting for Kate.  She throws great parties and always has awesome decorating ideas that anyone can use.

My blog is life, family, and decorating DIY all in one.  You write what you know, right? And, what I know is about boys, family time, and my favorite hobby, anything decor or DIY related.

When deciding what to write about for this guest post, I was going through some pictures and something really jumped out at me.  See if you can tell what it might be:

Easy Cockpit Craft for A BunkBed

Today is the big starting day of the DietBet that I am participating in! Yea!
I submitted my official weigh-in yesterday, so now the hard part begins.

If you remember, I told you that I love bread and ice cream, but none of that for the next 28 days.

I got in my workout last night and finished off the evening with a post workout protein drink.  Yum! (cough cough NOT cough cough)

On Saturday, I whipped up a surprise for Little Bit's room.  It's something that I had planned on doing for a while, but had put it off. While I was at Lowe's snagging paint chips (I felt like I was doing something wrong!) I grabbed the supplies that I needed for this project.  It cost me a whipping $9.00. All I needed was a drop cloth.

Little Bit and the Middle share a bedroom and it is all decked out in airplanes.

homemade propeller and faux barnwood letters

I made the letters that say FLY, and the hubs made the propeller out of a 2x8.

DietBet-Gotta Lose It To Win It

UPDATE: The pot is now $13965!
Cheer me on!

I've got something coming up that I am really excited about. It's called a diet bet.
Yes, I am going on a "diet" to try to win some money.
Haha! Sort of!

weigh in time!
I AM in a contest to try to lose 4% of my body fat, but I'm not only doing it for the money.  I'm doing it for me, the money is just a little extra incentive.

You can go to DietBet's site to learn about all the particulars. Basically, you join a game for $25 and anyone that loses 4% of their body fat splits the pot with others that lost their 4%.

Package Pals-What I Sent

Hey, everybody!

I am indebted to my new friend Jenn, of A Jennuine Life, for snapping some pics of what I sent her for Package Pals, hosted by C.R.A.F.T.  Yes, I forgot to take photos! Bad blogger!

It was such fun, and I loved every minute of it!

You might remember THIS post about a cutie little bird's nest.
Well, I made it for Jenn and sent it along in the package.

March Package Pals

Last month I participated in Package Pals.  What fun! I plan on doing it again on the next go around.
It was a lot of fun and I was paired with an awesome blogger, Jenn from A Jennuine Life.

It was such fun to get to know her some through emails and her blog.  She is a sewist and creates beautiful clothes for her two sweet little girls, and all sorts of really cool projects.  (She's participating in Sew-vivor, at Family Ever After, right now and I got a sneak peek of her next entry. Oh, it's brilliant!)
